A hidden gem in North Kodagu! 💎 Kalyan Bhavan, a family-run eatery in Somwarpet, is a beautiful story of legacy and flavor. It all started in 1948, just one year after Indian independence, when a young Mr. Basappa from Shimoga was forced by circumstances to take on a labourer's job before slowly saving up to open his own place. 🍽️ Today, his legacy is continued by the second and third generation of his family that personifies the phrase "all hands on deck," they cook, clean, and serve customers in their home in Somwarpet, North Kodagu. I got to chat with his son, Mr. Basavaraj, and watch his grandson, Ravi, craft two of their signature dosas: the ghee masala and the onion dosae. Both are absolute masterpieces!
