M. Buhari returned to Chennai from Colombo with his eponymous restaurant post Indian independence. Back in the day, the restaurant was associated with a number of firsts, the first espresso machine, the first jukebox, and the first eatery to serve its patrons in fine, imported bone china. Today though, Buhari is perhaps most famous as the place where the chicken 65 was invented. I tasted their creation and was surprised to find it unlike any other version that passes off as a dish.
