Emerging through tough circumstances, her delicious Malenadu fare was winning hearts and palates in kudla and she seemed to be doing well, also winning numerous accolades for her grit and determination. However things are far from good for Shilpa and her family currently, I discovered when I chanced upon the food truck on my last visit to the city. I learnt that the family was going through a time due to the pandemic and also that Shilpa was largely confined to her home due to a serious back problem. She cooks what she can at home aided by her brother who then sells the food out of the truck with her father. Whilst their economic situation may be dire, the food that they dish out is still as delicious as before, I relished a toothsome green chicken curry, a spicy leg piece with soft akki rotti.
