Video Description
#nelamangala #bangalore #mangalorehighway highway eatery in nelamangala, bangalore mangalore highway, mylari dose, akki rotti, mutton fry, mutton chops, chicken palav, mutton palav, akki rotti, highway dining, karnataka This highway eatery in Nelamangala, 40 kilometres from Bengaluru, is a passion enterprise of young entrepreneurs seeking to combine an iconic dosa style with local curries, palavs and more. Their conviction in the dosa, and a dosa cook with credentials apparently in the kitchen of the legendary Vinayaka Mylari, Mysuru, is even stamped in the name of this culinary venture, Malgudi Mylari Mane. I venture out for breakfast one early morning to taste the dose and other meaty offerings here, and return convinced that MMM certainly offers a refreshing change-from-the-usual offering for travellers on this stretch of the road. Hope you enjoy this episode, stay safe and happy eating! Mylari Dosa Topped with some village butter, the Mylari Dose here served with a herb-enriched green saagu and coconut chutney. Its fluffy, porous texture also makes it a willing accomplice to be dunked in the curries. However, in comparison to the iconic Mysuru Vinayaka Mylari Dose that it seeks to emulate, it doesn’t quite manage the melt-in-the-mouth fragility of the original offering. But it is a tasty dose on its own. Rs. 40 (usd 0.5) 8/10 Paaya This broth typically consumed in the morning is the sort that jolts your senses awake with its spicing. Would make for a perfect medium to dunk some hot thatte idlis in here. Rs. 50 (usd 0.7) soup only; Rs. 100 (usd 1.4) with one trotter 8/10 Koli Kara A Sino-Indian inspired creation of MMM, the chicken is juicy down to the bone. You can taste the heat of the fresh green chillies, the slight sweetness of some tomato sauce and the lingering warmth of red chillies combined with the umami punch of some soy. Rs. 70 (usd 0.9) per leg piece 8.5/10 Chicken Pepper Fry You can taste the grainy bite of the pepper alongside some garam masala and coriander in this preparation. Rs. 140 (usd 1.9) 7.5/10 Naati Koli Fry Loved the coriander freshness of this preparation made of free range chicken that is deep in its flavours, fortified also by bits of skin clinging on to the meat. Rs. 180 (usd 2.4) 9/10 Mutton Fry A rustic-style dish, the meat is soft in parts and a tad chewy otherwise. The masala seemed a bit heavy on the salt though, thankfully one could dunk the fluffy dose in to tone it down. Rs. 200 (usd 2.7) 7/10 Mutton Chops The meat is juicy and pink with a bit of fat, and the sort that peels away from the bone. The curry is thick and flavourful, redolent of coriander and fenugreek. Rs. 200 (usd 2.7) 9/10 Akki Rotti Rs. 20 (usd 0.3) 8/10 Chicken Palav The rice is a bit starchy to the touch, the punch of the spices quite pronounced in the rice. The meat is moist and juicy, savour it with the rice to taste the complete flavours of this tasty palav. Rs. 140 (usd 1.9) 7.5/10 Mutton Palav Although the composition of the spicing is similar to the chicken palav, one can taste the flavour and aroma of the meat in the rice as opposed to the accent of spices in the former. The spice in this version is subservient to the flavours of the goat meat, thereby making this a palav that is gentle and rounded on the palate. Rs. 220 (usd 3) 8/10 Happy Eating!
