Not just in terms of its decor but the dishes that are served here, many which are found rarely now, and that too mostly in homes that have managed to hold on to their culinary traditions. I drop in for breakfast and and make a big breakfast of many delicacies that I hadn’t tasted hitherto - like the patholi, a stuffed rice and jackfruit pancake steamed in banana leaf, thekre idli, an unusual steamed rice dumpling made with cucumber, a raw jackfruit roast, patrode, spiced and steamed colocasia leaves, and lots more. If you want to savour an old-fashioned South Canara breakfast, more specifically a GSB meal, this is the place to visit when in Mangalore. Hope you enjoy this episode.
