And so, on a recent drive through the area, I stopped at this 68-year old institution where I enjoyed my short conversation with the humble second-generation proprietor, Mr Mahabala, and also caught the making of what is perhaps one of the fluffiest khaali dosae that I’ve eaten. Khaali means ‘empty’ in kannada, there is no oil deployed in the dosae’s cooking, but ironically the tradition here is to serve it with some tuppa (ghee), and palya (potato stuffing) to make for an enjoyable, filling thindi. And they say, you shouldn't leave here without tasting their soft gulab jamun, which is what i savoured too in addition to a lovely idli sambar.
