Video Description
#pavbhaji #vegetarian #bangalore popular pav bhaji, vegetarian restaurant, mumbai pav bhaji, shivsagar pav bhaji, pav bhaji making, falooda, rmv 2nd stage, bangalore, bengaluru A dish that finds its origins in leftover vegetables tossed by street vendors into an inexpensive but tasty mash and served with local bakery bread as cheap sustenance to Bombay’s mill workers at the turn of the last century, the pav bhaji evolved to its buttery, cheesy, somewhat indulgent avatar courtesy savvy restaurateurs in the seventies and eighties. My memories of a Mumbai pav bhaji go back to Shiv Sagar, Juhu and Vile Parle, a hop and a skip away from college, where I relished many a plate. So when a craving for the Mumbai style pav bhaji hit me one cold evening, I found my way to the Bengaluru outpost of Shiv Sagar, where brothers Ram and Shyam, second generation restaurateurs trained in the Mumbai restaurant, dish up this quintessential Mumbai fast food that is quite close to the real deal. Hope you enjoy this episode. Pav Bhaji Served with a generous dollop of butter and a flourish of coriander, the bhaji is the sort of near-runny consistency that you can smother the butter-soaked pav with. The creamy starchiness of the potatoes, crunch of the onions, tang of the tomatoes and the freshness of coriander, intermingle with the punchy flavours of the special masala and the spicy red chilli paste. Ensure that you ask your bread extra roasted to get the perfect Mumbai pav. Rs. 120 (usd 1.6) 8.5/10 Special Kesar Falooda The traditional Mumbai sweet ending to a plate or two of pav bhaji, this slurp worthy dessert is a riot of textures!
