A friend pointed him to a tiny shop on Berlie Street in Langford Town, and thus began Sudha Chaats, named after his wife, 39 years ago, to introduce Bengaluru to the joys of khasta (crisp) samosas and kachoris. The couple would cook and serve their fare piping hot; alongside the North Indian treats, their masala vada, bhajji and bonda, made interestingly with samosa stuffing, too found much favour, making their shop a popular cornerstone of the neighbourhood over time. Jawahar Lal passed on two years ago, but the tradition continues with his wife, now joined by their son, Satya Narayan. Hope you enjoy this chatpata episode.
