Video Description
#punjabifood #butterchicken #tandoorichicken popular punjabi restaurant, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, indiranagar, bangalore, kebabs, curries, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, paneer tikka, machhi tikka, fish tikka, dal makhani, butter chicken, seekh kebab, baingan bartha, palak, paneer, mutton barra kebab, mutton rogan josh, rasmalai, moong dal halwa, gulab jamoon The year was 1993. A Punjabi from Delhi with a young family, hotel management degree from the US and a stint with a leading hospitality chain, landed in Bengaluru on business. Taken in by the city’s salubrious weather, he set up a tiny 400 sq. ft. restaurant called Treat to serve up "Saddi Dilli" style Punjabi food. 27 years on, Treat has integrated well into Indiranagar, Bengaluru’s culinary landscape with a loyal following in the area and beyond. Its founder, Pramod Chaudhry is now joined by his son and daughter, as they look to take on the challenges brought on by the current pandemic. I visit them, and savour many of the hearty Punjabi kebabs and curries, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, that helped this neighbourhood eatery make it to many a Bangalorean’s speed-dial way before delivery apps appeared on the scene! Hope you enjoy this one, take care and stay safe. Bharwan Tandoor Aloo Potato stuffed with paneer and veggies, cooked in a tandoor and then sliced pinwheel style. Rs. 240 (usd 3.2) for 6 pcs 6.5/10 Ajwaini Paneer Tikka This paneer is soft and creamy, well marinated in the tikka masala and cooked in the tandoor with delicious charred edges. On the palate, it is the flavour of the ajwain, carom seed, that shines. Rs. 255 (usd 3.4) for 6 pcs 8/10 Ajwaini Tandoori Machhi Tikka The seer fish kebab is fresh and flakey to the touch, and despite being cooked in the searing heat of the tandoor, is moist and juicy. The seasoning has penetrated all the way in, making for a flavourful tikka till the very last bite. Rs. 400 (usd 5.3) for 4 pcs 9/10 Tandoori Chicken The chicken is spiced gently but with a depth of flavour that comes from the bird being marinated for a while. You can taste the pungent lilt of mustard oil straddling the warming spices. Rs 240 (usd 3.2) for half portion, I tasted ¼ quarter portion. 9/10 Kali Mirch Tikka The kali mirch tikka is what you get when a juicy malai kebab on its way to the tandoor is waylaid by an army of freshly crushed black pepper! Rs. 275 (usd 3.7) for 6 pcs 7/10 Mutton Seekh Kebab This is a textbook seekh, the mutton mince, granular in its texture with the right amount of fat, spicing and the warmth of ginger and green chillies. Rs. 350 (usd 4.7) for 8 pcs 8/10 Mutton Barra Kebab The meat is cocooned in a translucent jacket of melting fat that imparts its deep flavours. Rs. 380 (usd 5.1) for 4 pcs 9/10 Palak Paneer The paneer is soft and the sort that melts in the mouth, the mild and gentle flavours of the velvety spinach saag make for the perfect partner to the creamy paneer. Rs 270 (usd 3.6) 8/10 Baingan Bartha I loved the deep smokiness of the eggplant in this homestyle Punjabi dish that’s nuanced in its flavours. Rs 220 (usd 2.9) 9/10 Butter Chicken A typical Delhi style butter chicken, you taste the ripe acidity of the tomatoes and depth of flavour from the spices roasted with the tomatoes to make the makhani sauce. The tandoori chicken is naped in the flavour of the gravy with the edge of kasoori methi and the richness of cream and butter. Rs. 275 (usd 3.7) per portion, I tasted half a portion 8.5/10 Dal Makhani Rs 250 (usd 3.3) 9/10 Mutton Rogan Josh A spirited slow-cooked mutton preparation that ticks all the right boxes, in the intense fervour of the gravy, the savoury sweetness of the onions and the unctuous, slightly fatty flavour of the meat that still retains its bite. Rs 340 (usd 4.5) 10/10 Assorted Bread Basket Rs 230 (usd 3) Gulab Jamoon Rs 80 (usd 0.9) per piece 6/10 Rasmalai Rs 90 (usd 1.2) for 2 pieces 8/10 Moong Dal Halwa Rs 130 (usd 1.7) 8/10 ADDRESS - Treat, 7/1, Ground Floor, G.J.
