I watched some of the lunch crowd relishing their thali meals, and made a note to return for the same someday. And so when on a recent visit to Chickpete, a lunch opportunity suddenly opened up, I lost no time in heading to this near-100-year-old eatery to taste their South Canara lunch. It’s a simple affair - couple of vegetable preparations, lentils, rasam, poori and rice, even a sweet - quite homely in its taste and sumptuous enough to fill one’s belly for a very affordable Rs. 110 only. And consumed in the restaurant’s heritage setting, it is also the sort of meal that transports one back to ‘good ole yesteryear’! Definitely plan a lunch here when in the area.
