#foodtour #kanchipuram #streetfood Kanchipuram - A temple city situated 275 kms from Namma Bengaluru and 70 kms from Chennai. When I say temple city I literally mean the city has numerous famous temple in each and every street. The famous one’s are the Kanchi Kamatchi Amman Temple , Ekambareswarar Temple , Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple. We started our journey from Bengaluru in KSRTC Rajahamsa Bus which started at 10:15pm and reached Kanchipuram exactly at 4:00am. Costed about 427₹/- per person which is a seater bus with push back facility. Started the day at a local tea stall with a cup of Suda Suda ( Hot Hot ) Tea. We took a room near by temple freshen up and this can be done by paying 100/- per person for freshen up or you can take a complete room by paying between 500–1000₹ per room. Firstly visited Kanchi Kamatchi Amman temple which is said to be 1600 year old Sannidhi constructed by Pallava Kingdom through Dravidian architecture! It happens to be one of the 18 Shakthi Peethas of India. Then we visited the Kovil Idly which is 300 metres from The Kamatchi Temple. It’s a family run business from past 3 generations! It’s a replica of the Kovil idly served as neivedyam to God Perumal at Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple which lasts for just 15 mins. So due to make it available to everyone many started to replicate and one such best replica is this place. Idly is slow cooked in steam for 3 hours with wrapped in Acre Yele kept in Bamboo Basket. A perfect nostalgic place to visit when you are at Kanchipuram.
