A culinary enterprise wasn’t on these engineers' minds, but their limited cumulative savings ruled out most other options. And so, they ventured into the food business with a small ‘stand-and-eat’ darshini style South Indian vegetarian tiffin eatery. With no background in the space, they invested nearly a year in learning basic recipes, honing them before opening in Jayanagar, South Bengaluru. Cut to the present, and Bengaluru Café has emerged as a hugely popular neighbourhood tiffin stop. I visited them recently to see how they operate and also to taste most of their evening tiffin menu. We first started at Malathesh Masala puri at Jayanagar 2nd block near Ashoka Pillar Circle, he has been here since 42+ years, well known among localites for his amazing masala puri , dahi puri and bhel puri. Each chat here is 30₹ Malathesh welcome customers everytime with a huge smile. Do give it a try. People often say This place is south Bangalore's CTR. The crispy textured dosa goes well with the chutney and one can completely enjoy the masala dosa here. Priced at 50₹ happens to be a must try for all Dosa lovers. The In-House made sauce adds magic to the cabbage based manchurian. Priced at 25₹ is a good try when you are in jayanagar and want to try a decent manchurian.
